The lakes around Mount Fuji also experienced their heyday, however ephemeral. I go today to Lake Yamanakako, especially to visit two abandoned hotels. On the place, I find out that the former is being restored, but the second one a little harder to find, is a ruin. The hotel consists of two buildings, the first is completely moldy, excessively wet, and seemed to be a reception or gala (there are dressing rooms for the “artists”). The second is the hotel itself.
The Hotel Yamanakako is not an extraordinary visit, but it is the same with haikyo. Surprises, ruined places, or places that have nothing special. But during the visit, we are always a bit excited, wondering what will be when we open the door! We leave the hotel to go around the lake, not knowing that we will find another haikyo…
We cross many places abandoned on the road around the lake, a game room here, but also two other hotels. Unfortunately, everything is locked we cannot visit them.
That’s how we find the haikyos! In searching for ourselves, looking carefully around us, taking the back roads, looking for suspicious locations … and of course, GPS is mandatory! The book on the left is Nippon No haikyo, it contains 200 spots with maps. The place to start. I also use many of Google Maps on my iPhone, much more accurate and complete than GPS.
We find the next haikyo of the day, losing ourselves on the back roads behind the lake. What a great discovery!
It’s always more impressive to discover places yourself, this second visit of the day was one level up. We still have some time to be tourists…
In fact, the first haikyo is not really a hotel but a kind of training center for employees of a company that went bankrupt. You can find more information on my site about the ruins of Japan, completely dedicated to haikyo. From now on, I’ll post on Meow.fr only the important haikyos 🙂

nice work!! an cool photos 😉 Yamanakako is a perfect place to make Urbex.
I was very excited the first time I went. Now I see it very differently, I am more interesting in a lake and Fuji-san! But the hotel is worth checking, especially is the dead pig is still there ^^
