This privacy policy covers the offbeatjapan.com website (and its japonsecret.fr and 日本の秘境.jp editions) as well as the Japon Secret / Offbeat Japan iOS app, published by Meow Arts KK (Japan).
The iOS app
The app collects no personal data.
- No account, no sign-up, no login.
- No advertising, no analytics, no third-party tracking SDKs.
- Your favourites, reading progress and settings stay only on your device (and in your personal iCloud backup, managed by Apple).
- The app downloads public editorial content from offbeatjapan.com, natural-hazard alerts (public data from the Japan Meteorological Agency) and exchange rates. These requests contain no personal identifiers — like any Internet request, they pass through our hosts, which may temporarily log IP addresses for technical and security purposes.
The website
The site requires no registration. If you leave a comment, the name and email address you provide are stored with the comment, solely for its display and moderation. Our host (Kinsta) and CDN (Cloudflare) temporarily log IP addresses for security and performance.
